I had fallen asleep next to Riot that night. I remembered at one
point the security had asked me to leave. They changed their minds
fairly quickly. Most people learned very quickly not to mess with me.
I awoke unusually early and pressed my lips upon Riot's forhead
before heading downstairs to grab a muffin. All that had happened the
other day was still a little hard to grasp. Granted I was never very
close to those dull holograms but... losing someone you know
sometimes makes you realize your own mortality.
I had almost lost my own life and if it wasn't for Rio I wouldn't
even be here to even pretend to mourn the hologram's passing. The
Stinger in me wondered for a moment if perhaps this would mean the
end of the holograms before remembering that they had done just fine
without Raya before.
I drove home to my place and changed my clothes. One thing I just
hated was waking up in clothes from the previous day.
Rapture's words tugged at my thoughts about how Riot and I belonged
together. It was nonsense. We were simply joined by our souls to make
the most beautiful music together. Rapture was part of that as well.
Whatever. She really did come up with the most out there schemes. I
think that if anything Jem really did need to be removed from the
picture, one way or the other.
Perhaps this incedent with the holograms would at least put them out
of commission for a while. Thank goodness. There was only so much I
could deal with of them for a while.
Then again perhaps it might be some good publicity if the Stingers
made an appearence at the funeral. Not that we were known for our
good will and charity. I shrugged. It was an idea.
I changed my clothes and ran to Riot's apartment to get him a change
of clothes. I hoped to spring him from the hospital as soon as
possible. I quickly headed back to Riot's room as I returned to the
hospital. I never liked hospitals.
